[Neat print female handwriting, obviously influenced by the stroke order.]
Hello. I am pleased to make your acquaintance. My name is Shiori. I am uncertain of what I should write here, so I suppose I could write what interests I carry.
I enjoy reading fiction, spending time outside, swordplay, drinking tea, playing with my abacus, and thinking about Kunlun. You see, I grew up in Kunlun, and I have not been back for a long time. Maybe I will travel there, but when I do, I would like to go as a Crusader.
I am graduating soon, so I do hope that the Church will accept me soon as a Crusader. I truly love helping people.
Also, if you are ever in need of an accountant, I carry the skills of a full-fledged one. I was raised in a family of accountants, so please feel free to contact me! I work part-time as a freelance accountant.
All right, I hope some of this have at least interesting to read. Goodbye, and God bless.
[Written in Kunlun language; very beautiful and somewhat flourish-y]
I am always willing to converse with anyone from Kunlun. I feel homesick, so please forgive me if this is forward. I have no one to write to.

('Lin' is her surname, 'Ya' her generation, and 'Wen' is her distinction among her generation. So 'Ya-Wen' is her real name, and Shiori is an alias.) She often doesn't tell her last name and mostly goes by "Shiori." Age: Origin: Kunlun Job and Build: Weapon Type: 1H+Shield & Spear Looks and PB: Long wavy brown-hair, hazel eyes. Drawn by Likes: Likes reading books, spending time outside, helping people, bananas, naps, Payon, Kunlun Dislikes: Thieves, people who take an advantage of others, untruthful people, natto, crowded places, bitchy people Sexual Orientation: Lesbian; but spends too much time working to think about love Marital Status: Single Family: Grandmother Shiori (maternal, deceased), Grandfather (maternal, deceased), Grandmother Lin Chin-Fong (paternal), Older Brother (By 1.5 years) Lin Ya-Xin, Mother Lin Chou-Su (deceased), Father Lin Jian-Kang Occupation: Service to the Church, freelance accounting Home: (Dorm) Izlude, (small rented room) Payon Other: Wears a black eye-patch over her right eye. None of the family know of her sexual orientation. Carries around a small abacus. Dislikes taking off her eye-patch, as she finds what is underneath it to be ugly. Blind in her right eye. Feels VERY awkward when people hit on her, especially males. Languages: Native Kunlun, Native Louyang (Mandarin), Advanced Amatsu, Intermediate Midgardian (with a rather large Kunlun accent) from reading old books so she writes better than she speaks, fluent in ULS (VERY slight accent, probably more easily heard among people from Kunlun, Louyang, and Amatsu). Personality: She's usually quiet when she's around people she doesn't know, but when she's around friends, her real personality shows. Shiori strives to be considerate, tries to appear strong, and is (now) a follower of God. Her belief in Him isn't the strongest, but she saw what the Crusaders have done for the people. Her want to protect the people is strong, so she thought that if she must believe in Him to help others, she will. She's not too good with her own feelings and desires, but is always willing to help others in any way. She often takes better care of other people than she does herself. Usually very organized, trustworthy, and obedient, Shiori does what she can when it's asked of her. She's usually very introverted, but she tries to be polite, nice, and friendly when there becomes a chance to meet someone. She carries a lot of patience, and tries to be understanding. She often finds difficulty in finding friends because of her shy and introverted nature. SHORT VERISON: Born in Kunlun as Lin Ya-Wen, she was raised to become an accountant. Her mother died at a young age, and her father became depressed. Young Lin Ya-Wen, after reading about knights and the good deeds they do, she wanted to become one. Her family looked down upon her decision. Her grandfather's deceased wife, Shiori, was her role-model, and she strived to become like her. Her father begun traveling, and Lin Ya-Wen went with him. Arriving in Prontera, she learned the true meaning of the knights, and became disillusioned about her dream. Her father and her left for Payon, where she met a Sohee. Enchanted by her beauty, Lin Ya-Wen approached the girl, and was cut across her eye by the Sohee's knife. Not knowing what to do, she tried to run, with the Sohee still after her. A Munak came by and attacked the Sohee, and the two were left to fight. She continued to run, but soon passed out. She came-to in a Crusader's arms. She asked the Crusader what their purpose were, and the Crusader replied that they were a servant of God, and to help those in need. Lin Ya-Wen asked more details on what a Crusader is, and was left with new-found hope in leaving her dreaded accountant-to-be life. She ran from home unknowing that her father was helping her through her elder brother. Her brother often sent her letters and money. She applied at the military school in Izlude, and now is ready for graduation. She found a home in Payon, but lives in the dormitories in Izlude. ELABORATED VERISON: Born in Kunlun as Lin Ya-Wen to a family of accountants, her family brought her up to be like one. Her mother died of a disease when she was 5, bringing much depression to her father and elder brother. Her father busied himself in his work, and her brother tried the best to explain to her that her mother was gone. Her grandmother became the only female influence in her life, but she didn't take a liking to her grandmother as she favored her brother over her. Not only was her brother the eldest, but he was also male. They were very good with money; they weren't the richest, but they were very well off. Lin Ya-Wen studied accounting with her brother, and often felt unfilled. She spent her free time reading fairy tales and stories of knights in shining armor, defending and fighting for what is right. Her brother often made fun of her for thinking of such things, but she loved him dearly as he was the closest one she could relate to. He was skilled in accounting, and his skill helped her become quite proficient in accounting. He bought her an abacus for her birthday, and as much as she disliked accounting, she said it was the most beautiful abacus she had seen. She was very excited when her father decided that to ease his depression, he thought he could travel the world, and one of the places on his list was Prontera. She became very excited as she knew that was where many of the swordsmen were--and Izlude didn't seem too far. Her grandmother forbid it, and told her father not to allow her to come. Her grandmother stressed that Lin Ya-Wen needed to gain more interest in accounting and needs to read less books, and that was probably the reason why she wanted to go. Lin Ya-Wen left the house with tears, a sore throat, and wished that she could visit the lands of swordsmen. She created her own makeshift sword, but her brother thought a naginata might suit her better. It was still all just play. She knew she'd never be anything else but an accountant. Her grandfather was skilled in swordplay, but was much too old to teach her anything. She was content with hearing about his time serving the Castle Lord in Amatsu. His stories made her day dream more than before. She loved her grandfather so much. He was very kind to her, and always had wonderful things to say. He often spoke of his deceased wife, Shiori, and even though Lin Ya-Wen had never met her, she was inspired by Shiori. In her mind, Shiori was the strongest woman she had ever heard about, true in heart, true in mind, caring, and loving toward many. Lin Ya-Wen understood why her grandfather loved his wife so much, even past death. She wanted to be like Shiori. Her grandfather never stopped expressing how important it was to help others. Months had passed since that moment, and her father was ready to leave in a few weeks. His trip would last months, perhaps a year or two. Her grandfather spoke with her father, seeing how she had started to engross herself in fiction, that she was unhappy on where she was, and her father finally decided that he would take her with him. Lin Ya-Wen happily packed. Lin Ya-Wen, age 12. They reached many different places. Finally, they arrived in Prontera. Prontera was crowded, people were rude, and not anything she imagined it to be. She thought perhaps the fiction she had read were really fiction, and that the characters in her books couldn't have a real-counterpart. She lost all hope in this place known as Prontera until they came across the Chivalry. There were knights there! She held back the urge to just run up to them and ask them many questions. She thought about how many lives they must have saved, and so on and so on, but soon realized a knight was not all they seemed to be. They served the King, and they followed a certain order. And most of them didn't seem interested in saving lives. They only seemed to listen to their orders above. They arrived in Payon next. Disappointed that her "knights" weren't all they were known to be, she thought about how her life was going to be spend doing only accounting. Her books didn't seem so interesting anymore, as they truly were a work of fiction. Her father noticed her change in attitude and suggested that she and him to take a walk. They left their rented room, and walked around Payon. There were many tourists in Payon, but it wasn't crowded like Prontera. Lin Ya-Wen found a liking to the fact that there were beautiful trees everywhere, and the people seemed friendly. She strayed from her father and found herself standing in front of a cave. There was a sign outside of the cave, but she paid no attention to it. Her mind wandered about how interesting a small adventure into this cave would be. She walked in. Kneeling on the floor was a young girl, dressed in clothing that resembled something that could have been from Kunlun, or perhaps Louyang. Or maybe it was from Payon? Was she another tourist? Lin Ya-Wen called out to the girl, but she made inaudible response. She only turned her head to face Lin Ya-Wen, and her the bells in her hair rang slightly The girl was very beautiful! There was something about her that Lin Ya-Wen couldn't put her finger on, something dangerous or maybe something very comforting. She felt herself slowly approaching the young girl. "Why are you staring at me?" the girl asked. Lin Ya-Wen didn't know how to respond, and continued to stare. She was frozen in her spot. The girl soon smiled at Lin Ya-Wen, and said, "I enjoy sitting in the shade, don't you?" Lin Ya-Wen nodded, as the girl seemed to float closer to her; the bells creating a bigger noise. The girl attacked Lin Ya-Wen, cutting her eye with what seemed to be a knife. Lin Ya-Wen screamed, and holding her eye, she ran as fast as she could away from this dangerous girl, unknowingly running deeper into the cave. She tripped, and the girl, with sharp red eyes, readied to attack again. "A tragic ending..." The cave was dark and had little light. Lin Ya-Wen shielded her face, to soon find that there was someone else there. Another girl, with a hat of some sort and had her hair tied in a braid--also dressed in something that seemed to be from Kunlun or Louyang, attacked the girl with bells in her hair. Lin Ya-Wen took this chance and ran off, not forgetting the impression she got of the girl with the braid's face. After she ran far enough, Lin Ya-Wen collapsed. It was too hard to see as her right eye's vision was completely red. She faded in and out of consciousness, and finally blacked out. She awoke in the arms of someone strong, someone wearing shiny armor. Her vision was still clouded, and she could not tell if it was a man or a woman. They had wrapped her eye up in a bandage, and her vision was a mix of pure white and red. "Who are you?" she asked. The person replied, "I am a servant of God, a Crusader." "A Crusader...? Who are they?" "We are like the knights; we live to serve God and protect the people in need. Please relax. We will reach the end of the cave soon." "Servant of God," Lin Ya-Wen thought to herself. That was what she wished to be, a Crusader; not a Knight. The Crusaders help the people. She closed her eyes. The Crusader left Lin Ya-Wen with her father, in their rented room. Her father thanked the Crusader, and the Crusader left. When she opened her eyes, she found her father over her. He was worried, blaming himself for Lin Ya-Wen's eye, and immediately said they were to head home within a few weeks. During the last week, Lin Ya-Wen expressed how she wanted to become a Crusader, like the one who saved her. Her father was upset, saying that she must become an accountant like the rest of the family, and Lin Ya-Wen said she didn't want to become an accountant. Her father became very angry with her. She expressed how she never got to thank the Crusader that saved her life, and that she was completely helpless on her own. She didn't share the fact that it was always her dream to help people, as she knew her father already would be displeased with her thoughts. They spent a few days not speaking to each other. He saw how upset he was making his daughter, but would not allow her to become a Crusader. It was dangerous and Lin Ya-Wen had already lost an eye. Lin Ya-Wen started to grow a dislike toward her father. They returned to Kunlun. Lin Ya-Wen thought about running away, and shared her secret with her brother. He was at first non-supportive, but soon realized that Lin Ya-Wen would never be truly happy as an accountant. He secretly helped her plan to run away. During this time, her grandfather died, killed by a thief. She was upset about his death, and it only made her want to become someone righteous to protect those who are in need. Lin Jian-Kang slowly started to recognize that his daughter seeked for something more. He knew of her plans to run away, but said nothing. It would break his 'face,' his strong impression. He secretly rooted for his daughter's success and gave his son quite a bit of money to give to Lin Ya-Wen and asked that he keep the secret. When asked how he got the money, Lin Ya-Xin never answered. He said to simply use it as a means to get what Lin Ya-Wen wanted. She thought about changing her name, or at least going by an alias, so that her father would not find out where she was. She decided to go by "Shiori." Lin Ya-Wen never knew that her father was secretly helping her through her brother. Age 14. She ran to Prontera, where she found out the path to a Crusader. She situated herself in Izlude, signed up in the military school. In her free time, she travels to Payon, hoping to see that Crusader again, or perhaps the girl who saved her life in the caves. Payon was just more pleasing to Shiori, compared to Prontera. She promised to study and practice as hard as she could. It was the only way she could become what she wanted, and she felt lucky that she was able to pursue it. She was often ridiculed for being so serious about doing her best. Now she's 18, and almost to graduation. She found a home for herself in Payon, but mostly spends her time in the Izlude dormitories trying to complete her military schooling toward graduation. --- "There was a woman by the bridge for many a days now. I had wondered what her reasons were, to just simply stand there, staring at the water, until yesterday. The other young swordsmen made fun of her, but I felt a kind of sadness in my heart. It might have been only a pet for others. I am sure that the dog had been a good family for her. I'm really not sure if she has any other family. "I started to feel bad as I haven't given word to my father on how I have been. I wonder if my father knew the letters from 'Shiori' to my brother were from me. My brother continues to send me money, even though I have enough freelance work to pay for my small place in Payon and I have still have lots of the money saved from prior. He insists that he wants to give it to me, and I can't reject such from him. My brother, how much I adore you... you have done what most humans cannot anymore." --- Shiori summed up as much courage as she could to approach the woman. "Hello," said Shiori. The woman, still looking quite distraught, turned her head to slowly face Shiori. Shiori could tell that this woman was much, much older than her, but somehow she felt sympathetic to her loss, regardless of her age. It could have been that this pet of hers was the only family she had left. The woman continued to say nothing. "Is there... anything I can do for you? I have seen you here by the bridge for many days, and I can feel your pain, even when I don't know the exact reasons." She moved herself next to the woman, and looked off into the water. It had an easy reflection of the both of them. "No," the woman replied. "No." She turned her head back to look at her own reflection. They stood there for almost an hour. "I've given her almost an hour. I really have other things I am required of doing," she thought to herself. As much as she would have liked to spend another hour to just give this woman company, Shiori wondered if she should have just given up. She hadn't seen anyone try to approach the woman before. "I am sorry for your loss, whatever it may be." the young swordswoman said quietly. Shiori turned around to leave, thinking that she had failed in attempting to ease the woman's emotion. A few moments later, the woman smiled. "Thank you, young swordswoman." The woman was never to be seen next to the bridge again. --- I just want to help people. Does this mean I must believe in God? The knights only serve the King. Therefore, I must become a Crusader. --- PLAYER INFORMATION Contact: AIM Lin Shiori |
